Eight interconnected stories set i Colonial Williamsburg follow apprentices, housewives, members of the gentry, merchants, tradesmen, free blacks, and slaves over the course of a single day in May 1774.
Focusing on the activities of one character, each 18-minute dramatization points up a theme such as class differences, political activism, education, and slave life. Expertly produced under the auspices of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the programs enable students to experience 18th-century life from multiple perspectives. The accompanying CD-ROM contains an extensive guide with historical background, episode synopses, lesson plans, and activities, including a 3-D immersive role playing game, “Betwixt Folly and Fate,” and a link to a “Dress the Part” interactive Web activity.
