ANCIENT EGYPT

Topics: the Nile River, the Egyptian conception of the afterlife, pharaohs, priests and scribes, Akhenaten’s hymn to Aten, the Battle of Kadesh, the geography and government of ancient Egypt, and the preparation of tombs. Assessment questions ask students to argue in favor of or against the portrayal of ancient Egypt as a tyrannical society, and to describe how the civilization maintained its stability.
